What are IIT’s in the Indian education system?

• The IIT’s are the breakthrough education system in Indian history. The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) are autonomous public institutes of higher education in India. The Institutes of Technology Act, 1961 lists twenty-three such institutes located at Bhilai, Madras, Delhi, Dhanbad, Dharwad, Goa, Guwahati, Jammu, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Bombay, Roorkee, Bhubaneswar, Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Indore, Jodhpur, Mandi, Palghat, Patna, Ropar, Tirupati and Varanasi.
• Each IIT is an autonomous institution, linked to the others through a common IIT council, which oversees their administration.
• The IITs had a common admission process for undergraduate admissions, called IIT-JEE, which was replaced by Joint Entrance Examination Advanced in 2013.
• Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) MAIN will be conducted by the NTA from 2019 onwards. This Examination was being conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) till 2018.
• JEE Main is applicable for admission to NITs, IIITs and CFTIs participating though Central Seat Allocation Board subject to the condition that the candidate should have secured at least 75% marks in the 12th class examination, or be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th class examination conducted by the respective Boards. For SC/ST candidates the qualifying marks would be 65% in the 12th class examination.

JEE Main 2020 Exam Pattern

National Testing Agency (NTA) has introduced some changes in the JEE Main Exam Pattern 2020. For Jan 2020 and Apr 2020 exam, Numerical type questions have been added. JEE Main 2020 Exam Pattern for B.E. / B.Tech

• Shifts of the exam: The exam for JEE Main 2020 is conducted in two shifts. The first shift is from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM and the second shift is from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM.
• Medium of Question Paper: English, Hindi and Gujarati.
• Type of Questions: There are two types of questions in JEE Main 2020 – MCQ type and Numerical value type
• Number of Questions: There are a total of 75 number of questions
• Total Marks: Each section is of 100 marks and the exam for BE/ BTech is of total 300 marks.

JEE Main 2020 Exam Pattern for B.Arch

Candidates who wish to apply for BArch must check the revised exam pattern from below:

• Mode ofExam : Computer-based test (expcte for Drawing test which is pen-paper based)
• Shifts of the exam: The exam for JEE Main 2020 is conducted in two shifts. The first shift is from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM and the second shift is from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM.
• Medium of Question Paper: English, Hindi and Gujarati.
• Type of Questions: There are two types of questions in JEE Main 2020 – MCQ type and Numerical value type
• Number of Questions: There are a total of 77 number of questions
• Total Marks: The exam for BArch is of total 400 marks.
• Name of the section: The question paper is divided into three parts – Part I is Mathematics, Part II is Aptitude Test and Part – III is Drawing Test.

JEE Main 2020 Exam Pattern for B.Planning

NTA has added a separate exam pattern for BPlanning. Candidates can check the complete pattern for B.Planning below:

• Mode of exam : Computer-based test
• Shifts of the exam: The exam for JEE Main 2020 for BPlanning is being conducted in a single shift i.e. from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM. However, in case if a candidate opts to appear for both BArch and BPlanning, the exam will be conducted from 2.30 p.m. to 6.00 p.m.
• The medium of Question Paper: English, Hindi, and Gujarati.
• Type of Questions: There are two types of questions in JEE Main 2020 – MCQ type and Numerical value type
• Number of Questions: There are a total of 100 number of questions
• Total Marks: The exam for BArch is of total 400 marks.
• Name of the section: The question paper is divided into three parts – Part I is Mathematics, Part II is Aptitude Test and Part – III is Planning Based Objective Type MCQs.

Drawing Test Syllabus:

• Sketching of scenes and activities from memory of urbanscape (public space, market, festivals, street scenes, monuments, recreational spaces, ect.), landscape (river fronts, jungles, trees, plants, etc.) and rural life.
• Creating two dimensional and three-dimensional compositions using given shapes and forms.

JEE Main 2020 Preparation Tips

• Polish your weak areas- If the exam is far, it is advised to candidates to brush up their weak areas as this is the time where they can see where they are lagging and could understand what are the techniques to avoid those errors.

JEE Main 2020 Admit Card

Candidates can download JEE Main 2020 Admit Card from the official website. To download the admit card, candidates are required to enter their Application Number and Date of Birth / Password. Make sure you carry any of the valid proof along with the admit card. It could be either Aadhar Card / Voter ID / Driving License / Any other Govt. ID Proof.

JEE Main 2020 Admit Card comprises of the information like the name of the candidate, address of the test center, category, roll number, exam date and timing, the shift of the exam, important instructions related to the exam.

JEE Main 2020 Important Instructions

Candidates are required to follow some instructions while they appear for the exam. So, check the instructions given below for the same:

• It is advised to candidates to reach the exam center on time.
• Carry any one valid id proof with the admit card.
• Candidates are not required to carry any personal belongings with themselves. They should not carry any electronic devices, watches, calculators, etc.
